C. Useful Tips

  • Walking: The Imperial City is very large. Wear comfortable walking shoes. We suggest spending at least 2-3 hours here.
  • Dress Code: Wear respectful clothing (shoulders and knees covered), especially when entering the ancestral temples like the The Mieu Temple.
  • Best Photo Spot: The Ngo Mon Gate (Main Gate) and the Duyet Thi Duong Royal Theater are perfect for photography.
  • Avoid the Heat: Visit early in the morning (08:00 AM) or late in the afternoon (03:30 PM) as there is not much shade in the main courtyards.

D. VnToYou Advice

“To truly understand the history of Vietnam’s last kings, you need a good guide. We suggest entering through the Ngo Mon Gate and following a route that includes the Thai Hoa Palace and the Forbidden Purple City. If you have time, stay for the ‘Changing of the Guard’ ceremony at the front gate—it’s a very grand and royal experience!”
